The event was advertised as 'Speed Dating (in aid of Unicef)' , and it took place in Que Pasa in Cardiff on Friday 13th February (to tie in with Valentine's Day!).
We provided a complimentary glass of cava to all guests, and there were about 80 people participating. We charged £2 for a ticket, and we were selling tickets the week before, and we had a few remaining which we sold on the door. Each participant was given a number (worn as a sticker) and a form, so that if they were interested in someone, either as a date or a conversation partner, they were to tick the relevant box against that person's number on the form.
People were given 2-3 minutes to talk to each other, after which time we blew a whistle signalling the men to move along to the next girl. We had some breaks during the course of the speed dating to give people a rest&a chance to go to the bar! At the start and during the breaks we sold raffle tickets, with the prize of a £15 voucher for Pizza Express&a cinema voucher (the idea being that you could have a cheap date!). We decorated the venue with balloons, and had candles on the tables!
