The Big Quiz was hosted at The Bridge Bar in Southampton University Students’ Union on Monday 27th April. It was a fantastic evening with some great teams putting in a sterling performance to end with an amazingly close finish! There was no clear winner at any time!

Eight teams took part with some pretty imaginative team names from ‘The Six Musketeers’, ‘The Crying Liver’ and ‘Three Blokes, Two Swedes&an Odd One’. There was an international theme to the quiz with rounds titled “Guess the Flag”, “Typically British”, “European Focus”, “World Music” and many more! There was close competition with points being pretty level. So the bonus round where you were able double your points certainly came in handy to put one team ahead in the end!

During the breaks we ran a couple of guess the answer games where questions were put out to everyone and guesses were shouted out. The people guessing incorrectly had to hand over 10 pence (£0.10) and the person guessing correctly won a lovely chocolate bar. There were some interesting questions that surprised a few people who should know more about their home country! One question that comes to mind is where the 3rd highest waterfall can be found….Norway! With two Norwegians in the room there should have been a quicker response!

We set up an information stand with information to inform everyone about the Give20 Project and where we hope the money raised with help change the lives of millions of children in Bhutan.

The English team dominated and took the glory winning with just two points, taking home some well earned book vouchers to spend on some much needed revision books with exams approaching! Each person taking part in the quiz paid £2 with all proceeds going to the Give20 Project. It was a great evening and something we will definitely be running again next year with the new Erasmus crew!
